Salenie was born and raised in San Francisco with a wide variety of music taste ranging from R&B/Hip Hop, neo-soul, to Latin, Amapiano, Jersey, Disco, House, Future Bass, and big room EDM. A member of the Ladies 1st DJ Club Bay Area, she started DJing at local bars and lounges before landing opportunities to DJ at her first local nightclubs. Within a few years, she won her first DJ battle, earned her first sponsorship with BPM Music, and found herself on her first ever sold out U.S. and Canada tour with three notable Bay Area artists, Ashley Mehta, R&B artist, Thuy, and Hip-Hop artist, P-Lo. This was monumental for her as a Vietnamese-American creative of her generation. Salenie just finished her 3rd tour with Ashley and recently opened up for influential electronic music artists, Odesza, Austin Millz and Snakehips. She has played music festivals alongside artists Gryffin, Said the Sky, Louis the Child, Madeon, Nghtmre, DJ Diesel and more. As she continues to immerse herself in the world of electronic music, she hopes to bring people of different genres and crowds, together through her music curation.

about me

my story

Salenie was introduced to the craft and culture of old school hip hop via turntablism through The DJ Project, a public arts youth initiative in San Francisco. Under the mentorship of pioneer hip hop legend DJ Quest, Salenie adopted the hamster-style of DJing. In high school, she started DJing her school events and city-wide events like SF Carnaval and Mission Block parties. Moving to LA for school, she was recruited to DJ college-wide events like graduation, club, and alumni events. She would also throw bi-weekly college parties at UCLA to help with living costs. The crowd of international students at these parties expanded her music taste, encouraging her to blend a wide range on genres within a night. Midst-pandemic, Salenie finished school and returned home to San Francisco when she stopped DJing for a few years. It wasn’t until local events in the Bay Area started happening again post-pandemic, did Salenie find herself in the midst of an amazingly supportive community of creatives and music lovers, propelling her to get back into DJing. She is dedicated to give back to her community, as they continue to inspire her journey.
